Anyone watching the new show on TLC called Fabulous Cakes?
I got to see it for the first time and loved it. Hope this replaces
Cake Boss & Ace of Cakes.

I watch it too! It's a really good show! I'm amazed at the marvel's they can create with such HUGE cake!

I like this show better than those cupcake shows......JMO....

I watched it last night and liked it but I hope it doesn't replace Cake Boss and Ace of Cakes. I want to watch as many cake shows as they will put on the air. icon_lol.gif My DH isn't too keen on that idea though.

I was really happy to see them show the retail cost of each cake on the first episode, but they didn't do the same thing on the second one; I'd like to see all the cake shows do that, so maybe customers would have a better understanding of prices.

Just wishful thinking...

I agree that I would like to see more cake shows. It was a good thing to show the cost of cakes so that when people go to order they have a better understanding of cake pricing.

In the moderators defense, I think it would be impossible because everyone titles their threads whatever they want, and they are also allowed to start as many threads as they'd like (as it should be, in my opinion).

I believe the real problem is that most of the time duplicate or similar threads are started because no one takes the time to search first, or in many cases READ about the same topic that may appear on the same page or a couple of posts down!

I respectively disagree. I also read a knitting forum (Ravelry). The moderators on that board do it all the time. It puts everything in one topic. It makes for a cleaner site and more importantly it is much easier to find something when you are searching for it.

This doesn't mean that everything buttercream related has to go in the same place. But 8 different things started about cake shows, those could get condensed into one for each show. After a while people will catch on and start looking for the topic before posting, just like they do in Ravelry.

It is not a matter of starting a topic, but contributing to a topic that is more important. That is quantity over quality IMO.

I, too, love this show!! It really reminds me of Amazing Wedding Cakes. There's not all the drama and fakiness, just a show about bakeries doing their thing. icon_smile.gif

I'm sorry, I meant quality is better than quantity. But I think you know what I mean icon_wink.gif

Yes, I figured you may have been referring to the scenario that was listed within the quote that would have meant quantity was what was happening, so I wasn't sure if you intended to switch that, but it reads well either way it's taken!

Do people really catch on after a while (on your other forum), or can you really teach an old dog a new trick?
