Wilton batter and serving chart for 3" deep pans

You make as many recipes, of whatever you like, as it takes to fill the pan 1/2 to 2/3 full. Most cake mixes are 4-5 cups of batter. According to the chart, you'd need 16 cups of batter. So with Pillsbury for example, which is about 4 cups per mix, you'd need 4 mixes. It will take a long time to bake. Decrease your temp to 325, use flower nails and bake-even strips to help it bake more level and evenly. If I was baking it, I'd torte and fill the finished product, too.

A full recipe of White Almond Sour Cream (WASC) will fill a 11 x 15 pan perfectly. A nice tall sheet cake. Use a flower nail in the middle and/or bake even strips around the edges and it will be perfectly flat on top and 2 inches tall.

in my cake class we use 2 mixes for an 11 x 15 pan and 3 for a 12 x 16.
