Is this possible? If so how do you make the lines clean and keep the ruler from making marks.

Thanks!

Are you talking about the diamond marks imprinted on buttercream? Is so, I have an impression mat.

Yes, that look. But I would like to do it with butter cream.

I just did this 2 weeks ago on a friends wedding cake in my pics. I used an impression mat and then went over it with the a ruler to make indentations. Does that make sense? Sorry! I was really worried about doing this with buttercream but honestly it was so quick and easy and everyone thought it took forever to decorate. If you have any questions let me know! It is now my new favorite thing to do on cakes!

I have several cakes I used the impression mat on with buttercream icing. It's not solely for fondant.

These Cakes are beautiful! That is the exact look I want. Can you advise what the name of the impression mat is you used? I looked on the website and I didn't find one.

Thanks!

Beth

mine is "Earlene's impression mat" but I didn't order it from her site, I think I ordered it from sugar ....craft dot com...in any case, it is hard plastic and I don't bend it I just turn my cake as I press it, kinda rocking it across the cake surface to make the impression. Just make sure your icing is crusted well and it's VERY simple to use.
