I am the kind of girl who likes to read up on a lot of techniques and then give it a whirl. I rather books (to have in my hands!!) or DVD's with instruction in them. I usually just use the pictures and practice, but find when I get stuck that the descriptions are most helpful. I am trying to get a good collection of stuff going. Don't get me wrong I love the internet, but a book will never be "offline" cause of a storm--I can always count on that!! So, besides The Cake Central Magazine (which I love), and Cakecentral.com (I am addicted to this site), and sugarshacks dvd--love them have most. What books, other publications, dvd, websites, authors, decorators, etc. would you be lost without. Okay, maybe not LOST, but you know what I mean. What is your "go to" thing to help you out?! I'm talking, baking, figure making, string work, flowers, new techniques, etc. etc!!! Any help would be fantastic! I'm also a list maker--love them---almost can't function without one! So I just would like a place for it to be icon_smile.gif

Tonedna has a few DVDs on her website. I hear they are pretty good. If they're anything like her youtube videos, then they must be great.

I consider all of my books as reference books. I try to keep an eye out for them where ever I go. I have picked up several used at our DOS - I have all of Colette Peters books, Kerry Vincents, Martha Stewart's wedding cakes....and many more. I just love all of them for different reasons. Ebay is a good place to keep an eye out too. I got all 3 wilton encyclopedias there for $60.

Debbie Brown. You can google her and go into her site to see all her cake books, then click on the book itself and you can see all the cakes she teaches in each of her books.

awesome!! Keep them coming. I too have inherited a vast collection of American Decorating Magazine & Mailbox news & a whole lot of Wilton year books (although I didn't like the yearbooks like I thought I would--so I only kept the most recent) from a friend who no longer had room for them, some back to mid 80's (which was fun to see since I was born in 83--she was only born in 82 so she also had them used icon_smile.gif ). I weeded through them and it was fun to see because some of the very people on this site had pictures of their cakes and cookies in them.
