Does anyone have any suggestions for making rice krispy treats to mold into a figure and then covered in fondant? I am attempting to make a dinosaur out of rice krispy treats but it seems like the treats are too soft. I mold it to how I want it and then 30 min later it is practically mush and falling off of my support frame. Please help? icon_confused.gif

I really like mixing RKT with candy clay (or modeling chocolate) like in the second thread JanH posted. I live in a very humid area, and the mixture holds much better than RKT alone for me. Also, notice that some recipes for RKT have a lot more marshmallow than others. I use the original recipe from Kellogg - has less marshmallow and holds better for me - and I add no butter.

I just made them with 50/50 RK and marshmallows, no butter. I also crushed the rice krispies, and it worked great.

Removing the butter is exactly what I needed to do! Thank you all sooooo much for your suggestions. Now I hope the rest of the cake turns out ok! icon_biggrin.gif
