I have this in cake decorating business forum, I thought this one would be more suitable...
Hi! last year a local grocery store bought decorated Christmas cookies from me. They bought a ton & I made a good amount of $ from it. They mixed my cookies in with a tray of others. They said they would have my cards & brochures out with the cookies, but they never did. It just had their grocery name on it. I never recieved any other business from it. Similarly, another bakery wants to add my cookies to their trays. They say they will put something with my name on it, but no contact info. They want customers to order the cookies through them so they don't order anything else from me. So what do all of you do?
Resteraunts order form bakeries & don't always state where they bought the dessert from. Should I sell the cookies to these places & just be happy for the $ or say no way, I want full & complete credit?

I think the fact that you are able to sell to local grocery stores is awesome. As much as it would be beneficial to have your name tied to each pastry that just isn't going to happen. I would continue doing business with them and appreciate the fact that you are being recognized by those sellers.

Hmmmm, depends on how much money I was making. I'd make sure to charge them plenty since you arent getting any referrals and they're taking up all your baking time-they have an exclusive contract with you basically. Or you can stipulate in your contract with them that they must include your info, but then it might be a no go. I need money and would do what worked last year, but everyone's situation is different.

I know of bakeries who do a strictly wholesale business. Everything they bake is sold to another retailer and usually sold under the retailers's name (they do a lot to major hotels 'n such across the country, too). As long as you're getting the business, who cares WHO is buying them, as long as somebody is! You may be in the process of building a niche market for yourself with this!

As long as they give me enough orders(since I will most likely not get any future business from it) I will do it.

It's not just cookies. Many different companies will sell their product to other businesses and even put the business's logos on the packaging.
I would also be quite happy for the business and as long as you're getting paid, that's the important thing. Good luck to you!
