Looking to add a "Fur" effect to a fondant covered cake,
I dont want to pipe it.
Using the extruder for the hair , so i would rather use a different technique for the fur on the body.
Thinking of using a sponge effect but havnt tried this theroy yet.
Anyone else have any suggestions?
Thankyou
Melt fondant and then add some cornflakes. I made a tree out of it on my last cake and you can achieve a fur look if done correctly.
Elisa Strauss did a dog on a TV special. She snipped the fondant with small, sharp scissors to make amazing fur.
Check out this tutorial/video- looks like a great way to make fur(and not too hard, either)!
In Debbie Brown's book she suggests using the star tip and sticking it on your finger and gouging the fondant with it - for short hair or grass.
My gosh that dog cake was awesome. I'll have to try that the next time I have to do fur.
