I was wondering if anyone has made a lap top and how did you do it. I really am looking to make one with fondant/gumpaste not out of cake.

I made a laptop once...The tricky part is getting the screen opened part to stay up, but I used a tuffboard, which is made of plastic, and melted it along where the hinge would be, then bent it up into position so that it would cool off and stay in a "v" shape. I don't know if that makes sense...

You basically want one solid piece of plastic to use as the support, then put the cake (or whatever) on the flat part that sits on the cake board. You can cover the screen part with gumpaste and decorate it like a computer screen.

The screen part and the base that the cake is sitting on is one piece, and the weight of the cake keeps the screen from falling back, sinceit's just covered with gumpaste.
