I was wondering if you can put the coloring while the royal icing is being mixed, l was thinking maybe on the last 5 minutes of mixing, after all the sugar has been incorporated...it would make icing a 100 cookies a lot easier, since they are all the same color.
That's how I would do it. Especially if you need a big batch of the same color. Add after everything is incorperated.

Yes! Just make sure that if they all need to be the exact same color, to make more than you think you'll need, so you don't have to spend time later trying to match it! I speak from experience...
I'm going a little blonde here, but how else would you do it? If I'm making 100 cookies that will be covered in blue icing, then I'm slappin' that blue icing in the mixing bowl right from the git-go.

I feel that no question is a stupid question, well that is what I've been told. And I know that with baking measuring is key, so I wanted to make sure that adding anything other then what the recipe calls for while in the mixing stage, that it would not mess up the royal icing. BTW I think the blonde comment was a bit rude/sarcastic, and uncalled for.
Ortiz, you're right, no question is a stupid question .... so I hope you're not calling my question stupid. I'm just asking "how else would you do it?" Seriously, I couldn't quite figure out what you were asking, and I felt that I was missing something. If you don't mix color in during the mixing process, when does it get mixed in?
I'm sorry my comments were misinterpreted and if they offended you, I apologize.
(And I"ve been blonde on and off my whole life and use that line all the time. It's not a personal slam against anyone, just a common way of saying, "I'm a little confused....")
I don't understand why that offended anyone . I know plenty of blonde people that say that all the time. I've never seen someone have a conniption fit over it either. I hope senior citizens don't beat me up because I always say that I'm having a senior moment
If I'm confused, I usually blame it on the peroxide I used in the 80's!
Ortiz, I think you might have read to much into indydebi's comment. She certainly isn't one to make a rude comment.
BTW--Debi I think you should go platinum on your next colour! VA VA VOOM!!
I am understanding that you mean in your mixer?
If so be careful with certain colors. My KA that I use for icing has a white paddle. I wanted to save time and dishes, so I did that with black. Big mistake! I now have a pink paddle. It stained it, and I did use a weak bleach solution very quickly and it came out a little.
It is getting better with each washing, but I'll never do that again. Especially with a strong color. I'd rather riun a mixing spoon than a paddle.
Thank you, that is exactly what I meant.
Well I did, I put the color in my KA and and it worked out fine, thankfully I was using a light color so my paddle is still white.
