HI, EVERYONE! I'M NEW TO CC AND I'VE POSTED A COUPLE OF TIMES AT THE SPANISH SECTION, EVERYONE HAS BEEN REALLY NICE THERE (HOPE YOU ARE FRIENDLY HERE, TOO!)

I HAVE A REQUEST FOR A SWEET SIXTEEN CAKE FOR NEXT SAT. AND THE FROSTING THEY WANT IS MERINGUE; THEY'D LIKE FONDANT, TOO, BUT I HAVE NEVER MADE THIS COMB.: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS? DO YOU THINK THEY ARE COMPATIBLE? I HAVEN'T DONE THIS BEFORE, AND I'M NOT THAT EXPERT. PLEASE, ADVICE ME.

THANKS, IN ADVANCE!

Do you mean a meringue based buttercream like italian or swiss meringue buttercream? Or just meringue as in egg whites and sugar? I don't think just meringue will get firm enough to put fondant over, but the buttercreams will.

Agree with KoryAK. icon_smile.gif

However, if they decide to go with the meringue (forget the fondant) here are some recipes.

P.S. Using all caps is considered "shouting". Also, I find it very hard to read.

Buena Suerte

If they mean meringue buttercream, like the Swiss or Italian types, then it will work. I do it often--I just chill the cake before covering with fondant.

Thank you, guys, for taking the time to answer; the meringue they want is the simple one (eggs, sugar), the dominican one, which is the one that I usually use, but I have never combined it with fondant before, so that's why I'm so concerned. They don't like buttercream at all, so I'll probably go with only meringue. Oh! JanH, sorry about the "shouting", I didn't really mean it.

Thanks, again; God bless you all!!

Chao!
