LOL Another something under my favorites.... I have so many!
She does do beautiful work, doesn't she?
WOW Is she fabulous!!!! I wonder how she's doing those jewels on her cakes.... I like how all the novelty cakes have a "story" beside them to tell you what's going on with the cake. Wish I could create something even remotely like this.... and how DOES she make those shoes so realistic????
Thanks for sharing the link!
imartsy, you can find jewel/gem molds several places online....one is...
www.candylandcrafts.com
Neat, thanks all4cake - I was wondering about her jewels that are on her purse cakes - they look so real! Not like fondant - like maybe the melted jolly rancher trick? But i dunno how..... just looks so good!

I don't know the ''jolly rancher'' trick, but most likely her ''gems'' are fondant painted with luster dust that has been mixed with vodka, lemon or vanilla flavoring or any other high alcohol content flavoring. The colors shine just like the gold and silver luster dusts.
These cakes are more like artwork.
I'm also curious to know what the jolly rancher trick is?
melted jolly ranchers = melted suckers/lolli-pops =
melted colored hard sugar
then into a mold (source posted earlier) to get jewel shape.
jolly ranckers/suckers/lolli-pops just faster, easier (pre-colored, pre-flavored) than having to do it from scratch
(i use this trick to make stained glass cookies)
I'm curious about the jolly rancher trick too ... but in order to get the answers, it must be posted so the people who can answer will read it. I'll post it right now.
