I have used home-made MMF, which tastes good, but I haven't bought read-made fondant. In your opinion, which is the best-tasting brand?
TIA

I like the workability AND the taste of FondX the best.

Have not tried Chocopan....do not prefer to work with (or eat) Fondarific.

Pettinice is the one that I have found I like the best but I just bought some Fondix Elite and I hope that it is as easy to use

Albert Uster company ( go online) makes a fondant called Massa. It is the best tasting fondant and pricey but worth every penny. They have several colours and flavours. They do not sell in stores as they are commercial but I've asked and you can buy a single bucket if you want .

It has been used for cake decorating classes at World Pastry Forum for a few years.

I pretty much only like to use Satin Ice. But have recently been thinking about trying another brand.

I had a post on this not too long ago. I really like working with Wilton's fondant but I think it tastes terrible. Someone suggested adding posted to add flavor by using extracts to flavor it and you can also use oil flavors like LorAnn. It takes less of the oils and they have a large variety of flavors. If it gets to sticky to add powder sugar. I haven't tried it yet, just passing the info along.

I use Fondx Elite for all my wedding cakes. The taste is good and the workablity is fabulous! It cost a little more but for a cake that has to be perfect this is the best way to achieve it. imo I use the reg fondx for everything else. Satin Ice is not the quality it once was. I find Duff's greasy, Wilton's even my Yorkies won't eat it!
Haven't tried Massa because of it's outrageous price but boy would I love to give it a try.

That's why Massa is the Rolls Royce of fondants..its super expensive. But its very forgiving to work with.

I use Carma's Masa Ticino. The best. I haven't tried Albert User's Masa, but I've been told they are very similar.

Regarding commercial fondants, I've worked with Wilton, Satin Ice, Pettinice and Fondx. Fondx is the only one that does not have that nasty chemical after-taste. It tastes sweet, but not as sweet as MMF. Caljava makes another product (Nu-Wrap), which is zero trans fat.

I had no idea there were that many different brands of fondant! icon_surprised.gif Obviously, I'm just starting out as a caker (that is, to get farther than two 8-inch levels or a Bundt cake plus frosting). Thanks for all the info.
