linda2006, it sounds like a theme from the show "Cupcake Wars". Lol!

Here are some ideas that crossed my tired mind...
~ Psychedelic swirls and flower power daisies for the 60's
~ Little cut out fondant signs that say a variety of words from across all the years like Groovy, Far Out, Dig it?, Rad!, Awesome!, Spiffy.
~ If you want to do more sugar work, what about gumpaste or fondant car phones from the '80's! You know, the white ones that were bigger than a brick! Lol!

Too bad you couldn't make a cupcake with giant shoulder pads!

Ok, I'm enjoying this walk down memory lane waaaay too much! Time to hit the hay!

Have fun with this order!! icon_biggrin.gif

Sounds like lots of fun. How about flowers (for flower power), peace signs would be good, and how about tie dye cupcakes (courtesy of familyfun.go.com) -

Instructions
Frost the cupcakes with white icing. Squirt a series of concentric circles of different-colored gel icing on each cupcake.

To create the tie-dye effect, draw a toothpick through the gel, moving from the center outward like a spiderweb.

To me thinking about the 80's when I was a kid, it was all bright. Bright splatters on black or white. Curly ribbon hair things, do some bright gum paste or fondant curls across some. I think a combination of everyone's ideas would make for a really fun looking display. Oooh, paisleys! and smiley faces! Looking I see a lot that has to do with pac man and rubics cubes for the 80's.

Here's some ideas I found.
