Recliner Cake Structural Question

I'm wanting to make a cake in the shape of a recliner in the reclined position and am wondering a few things....If I make the back and the footrest portions out of RKT covered in fondant will a few bamboo skewers support those pieces well enough to prevent them from falling off the base of the cake (the seat portion)? I'm thinking it will work for the foot rest b/c it isn't very big or heavy, but the angle of the back rest part has me a little worried. Any suggestions on the best way to support those two pieces? I can make the RKT pretty hard since they won't need to be eaten. The foot rest is going to stick out at almost 90 degrees from the base- will 2 or 3 skewers be enough to hold it on? The 3 pieces will be individually covered in fondant so I can wait until the last minute to assemble (its a family cake so I can stick 'em in just before we serve it).
This is job for DOUG!
really??? ok. if you say so.
SO....
just 5 hunks of cake scattered about no big deal and no RKT.
main body could be a double layer tier with the central portion cut out. The cut out being used for the foot rest. then additional cake for the back.
trick -- metal brackets bent to hold back and foot rest and wood base board. can be any bendable metal--even old (don't tell Joan C.) wire coat hangers.
metal brackets (the big thick black lines) get attached to wood base (not shown) and don't even have to go into cake if bent as shown. Brackets can for back can be bent even more to get deeper recline.
then a good stiff board (suggest 1/4" foamcore for foot rest and possibly double that for back) and lay on the cake, BC and fondant.
disguise the brackets and the wood base as the rug the chair is own and pile up "stuff" around the chair -- newspapers, drink cans, a dog, etc.
Would wire hangers not bend under the weight of the cake? I guess it probably won't weigh that much for a single layer. Thanks Doug! That will make things a lot simpler than my first idea!

depends upon thickness of wire.
the cheapo light weight ones I have would have to be doubled and twisted together.
heavier weight ones might only have to be doubled.
could also use metal tubing -- tho' unless smashed flat for the back would be harder to hide.
even "bar" stock can be used. that's the thicker flat metal that angle brackets are made from.
