So, I bit off more than I can chew for this week - 1 3-tier real wedding cake, 1 4-tier fake wedding cake, 1 guitar grooms cake, a 2-tier hello kitty birthday cake and 5 non-decorated sheet cakes to cut up and put in 200 boxes for the wedding with the 4-tier fake cake. Oh, I forgot to mention, I work full time as an IT Manager and have 2 kids, a husband and a bulldog who got a bad bladder infection on Monday.

ANYWAY, I was baking the last 16x16 layer this morning at 4:30AM and FORGOT to grease the pan. It baked up beautifully. Went to turn it over and you guessed it! STUCK! So stuck that i think it is now part of the pan!!!

This cake is supposed to be for 125 people. Can someone tell me if i have enough cake? Here's what I have:

1 - 16x16x2 (bottom tier)
2 - 12x12x2 (middle tier)
2 - 8x8x2 (top tier)

Thanks for your help!

per wiltons chart for wedding size piece of cake, 16 inch =128, 12 inch=72 and 8 inch= 32 thus you have cake for 232 wedding size servins. HTH

Thank you so much pattycakesnj! That really does help. I was stressing trying to figure out how in the world I was going to be able to bake another 16x16 tier tonight and decorate it too. Thanks again!

Hang on, so you are saying these tiers are only 2in deep? Then you have half the amount patty said - 8in = 16 + 12in = 36 + 16in = 64 = 116 total servings. So you are short 9 servings. Can you bake another 8x8x2in to be cut up in the back or something?

If i understand correctly, you have 2 layers each for the top 2 tiers, and only 1 layer for the bottom tier, so you should have enough cake, although I'm not sure how it will look with only a 2 inch tall bottom tier.

so, to recap, the bottom 16 inch at 2 inches=64,
2 layer 12 inch=72
2 layer 8 inch=32
you have 168 servings, so don't stress, you have enough cake

Noooooo.... From your first post all the tiers are 2 inches tall. So each piece gets cut into 2" x 2" pieces. So take your width, and divide by 2, and then do the math.

So, a 12" will get 36
a 16" will get 64
an 8" will get 12
That is 112.

sorry, you misread, the 2 top tiers are 4 inches each (it is only a 3 tier cake) and poster said 2 2 inch tier which makes it 4 inches. she has enough cake

I agree that there will be enough cake, but won't it throw the look off to have the bottom tier only 2" tall?

(BTW - Good luck and I hope the bulldog is feeling better!)

Thanks all. Yes, the 2 top tiers are both 4 inches high and the bottom is only 2 inches high. I was thinking of stacking the foamboard underneath high enough to add some height and cover with bc like the cake. I'm not sure what else to do because I can't add more cake at this point. Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

There are a lot of cakes that I have seen where each tier is a different height. Gives it a little visual interest I think so I wouldn't try to camaflauge the difference, I would highlight it.
