As I was turning into the driveway of the venue to delivery my cake, the entire bottom tier slid/fell apart! After my panic attack and some quick brainstorming, I ran to a Michael's. I found some styrofoam rounds, hot glued them together and covered it in Wilton's fondant. The catering staff was able to salvage the bottom tier by slicing it up and placing it on serving plates. The end result was not what I wanted but, for the amount of time I had to have the cake finished, I think it turned out just okay but it would have been alot better had the bottom tier not come apart. No one knew the last tier was fake until the end of the reception.

I am not sure what happened to cause the cake to come apart. I had it safely secured in the box. I wonder if it was the temperature? I live in Florida. It was 10am but still quite warm. Before loading the cake I even ensured the car was cool by running the air 1st. Any ideas on what I should do differently next time?
