Each year I am asked to make a strawberry sponge cake for a co-worker. Each year they ask for a bigger cake. This year I figured I would do a two teir round and use straws to stabilize my cake.

Well live and learn - you DO NOT put a heavy two tier sponge cake filled with whipped cream and fruit on top of straws in sponge...ugh.

I passed off the cake to my co-worker and on the way to his house the bottom half slid off into a mess. I had to lay down and take a few aspirins to handle the stress.

If it had not been for the two other successful cakes - I would have had a melt down. TIP: you can't stabilize sponge cake lol
