My wedding cake customer gave me samples of cakes she liked. Her favorite had "sprigs" stemming out of the cake from roses and leaves. They are almost like curly Q's that just stand out wherever. Any idea what I'm talking about or how to make them??

I don't have a scanner. They look almost similar to narrow pipe-cleaners twirled in loops.....Maybe they ARE non-edible! I just assumesd they were some sort of sugar-paste being on a wedding cake. Any one know of a simple sugar paste recipe. I couldn't find any under recipe search. icon_wink.gif

I'm sure you could do it out of gumpaste with the proper form. But, it could be done out of wire also.

i make tendrils from floral tape and attach them to the stems of flowers. it gives the effect you are describing. you just twist the floral tape together and wrap around a pencil or similar to get the shape.
