Hi my nephew visiting this weekend loves soccer so I though I impress him with a soccer ball cake. I have the Wilton pan the cake is really smalll but it is only for him, but I have been reading some of the comments on the pictures and it seems as the cake would roll off even after you trim the bottom off a bit someone else mentions a dowel rod just to keep it from rolling off. The question is Will this really happen? and if my nephew is taking his cake back to Texas 3 hour drive. Am I better off putting a dowel rod down the middle? Does the rod have to go through the board? Or just touch it? I added pudding mix, milk instead of water and an extra egg hopefully that will make the cake more dense. It is still hot so I dunno yet I know the knife came out clean from the middle. The ball will be sitting alone on the board, thanks in advance

I used this pan to go a golf ball and drove it an hour and it did just fine. Try putting some buttercream under the ball, between the ball and the board. Should act as glue.
When I did mine, I tinted coconut green for grass and put it around the bottom of the cake. Should work for soccer too icon_smile.gif

Good luck!
