Sugar Ribbon Flower Cake

How-to Ribbon/Fabric Flowers
This week we are Mixing-It-Up in the kitchen with a quick and fun way to make sugar flowers look like they were made out of ribbon or different fabrics. I’m going to show you three different types. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

LOOK DOWN BELOW for all the materials you’ll need.

WHAT YOU NEED:
I’m working on a 5-inch and 8-inch round tiered cake

MATERIALS
Fondant or gum paste
Gum glue or egg whites
Small rolling pin
Small ruler
Fondant smoothers
Vegetable shortening
Brush
Paring Knife

OPTIONAL:
Luster dust and lemon extract
Various flower cutters
Various textures: threaded pipe, sand paper, canvas
Stitching tool (aka: tracing wheel)

STEPS:
1) Show how to make a ribbon flower with threaded pipe
2) Show how to make a ribbon flower with texture and roll up method
3) Show how to make a stitched ribbon flower
4) Make centers: buttons, pearls, etc.
5) Attach
