Renowned decorator Bronwen Weber wowed audiences at the Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show (OSSAS) with an expert sculpted dragon cake demo on the main stage. This November, Cake Central is excited to be hosting a Custom Sculpted Dragon Cake class with Bronwen in Chicago, and in honor of the highly anticipated event, we’ve put together a list of CAKECENTRAL.COM‘s top sculpted dragon cakes. Don’t worry, they won’t bite.
3D Dragon Cake By sweet-minikins
My first ever full on 3D Cake – dark chocolate and white chocolate mud cake filled with a choc mint Italian meringue butter-cream and covered in choc ganache – the entire cake is edible minus the skewers holding the wings and the rod in the neck. Head, upper neck, wings, claws and scales all made from marshmallow fondant. I handpainted the entire cake and cake board and it was the first time I’ve painted fondant so was a lot of fun!
Female Dragon By mikeroweshunny My employer fell in love with the gumpaste dragon I put on to a wedding cake last year, so her husband commissioned me to make her a 3D cake version for her birthday. Body & tail are chocolate buttercake filled with chocolate ganache and covered with fondant, everything else is gumpaste (apart from her wings which are made from Artista soft so they are very light). Lots of lustre dusts & disco sparkles for that fantasy feel! It it helps give some perspective, she’s on a 14x10in board.
Female Dragon By StacyR Carved cake book with rice krispy treat dragon. I got the idea from emilsmee’s entry in the dragons and fairies contest. This is my favorite cake yet!
White Dragon By kathymekb The dragon is made of rice krispie treats covered in white modeling chocolate. He is resting on a half sheet cake. This cake was for a bridal shower. The bride is having a medieval wedding.
By brendyscakes Green Dragon – all edible and all cake except for the wings and poker chips which were gumpaste. Vanilla cake with Italian meringue buttercream.
