By cjf 2 8×12′s, stacked and carved to make the bag. Iced in buttercream, the blue was airbrushed on, and the red is fondant. The chip/dip image was traced onto an EI and painted using dry petal dusts and food markers. The chips are candy clay and the edges were dry brushed with ‘flesh’ powdered food coloring. I used tappits (SP??) for ‘original’.

By springlakecake I made this for my son’s cubscout “blue and gold banquet” last weekend. I also made 125 or so servings of sheet cakes to go with it. The theme of the banquet was “travel.” The cub master dressed up like a pilot etc. It was cute.
By bhv333 This is a groom’s cake – white cake with cream cheese frosting. I made the wedding cake too and will upload it later.
By mlee000 As just a hobbyist, this was a bad idea. Way too hard! I thought the carving was hard enough, until I had to cover it! It was all carved from pound cake, the entire base is carved from one block of cake, except for the cardboard the lion sits on for support with the triangles stuck on. The lion is all cake, carved from 3 round cakes and even had a ball in his mouth. Definitely a good learning experience.
By Krabbykatie He was foe a young boy’s birthday. He has lots of hermit crabs for pets
By 2muchsugar This is my second sand castle wedding cake. I tried to make it look more realistic. The turrets are rice cereal treats. Everything else is fondant and the shells are chocolate. I sprayed tinted white chocolate on the whole thing to replicate sand. Thankfully, the bride and groom loved it.
By tguegirl My entry in the New York Cake Convention. It took 2nd place for 3-D Sculpted Cake, Intermediate Division.Body is all cake. Paws and head are made of rice krispie treats. Many thanks for Susie108 for her help and to gossimerwings for inspiration. I’ve added some construction photos which hopefully will help! To support the head, I used four dowels nailed into a wooden circle. I drilled a hole into it and stuck a dowel through to keep the head in place (see photos).
By pieceofcaketx Everything is cake except for the dino’s head, tail and legs. His body and the 3 tier b-day cake is all chocolate cake.
By SweetTater Stack of pancakes with bottle pouring maple syrup over the top. I used a clear acrylic tube to support the bottle and poured isomalt down it to get the affect. The bottle was made out of RKT, but next time I would just carve styrofoam. The bottle was heavy and I had to attach it after I delivered it. Fondant strawberries & blueberries.
By libs This is my very first 3d sculpted motorcycle cake, it has a custom made support system out of wood. the Bike itself from gas tank down is cake , vanilla cake about 3 full sheet worth, and then the front wheel is Styrofoam, the bike has multiple layers of fondant on it for shape and detail work, the realistic paint work is airbrushed on and then pine stripped with food colour. the whole thing was about 80lbs plus and was nearly 30 inches in length, and took close to 25 hours to create from start to finish.hope you enjoy it and if you want to see how i did it click on the link below for a video…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ss6XN-JP_x8

Measures about 18″ high. The relish was made of green fondant, painted on one side, cut up into squares, then some piping gel on top for shine. The beef was made by cutting thin circles of fondant, folding and stacking them, painting the edges a darker brown, then adding shine with gelatin. Real cinnamon sugar on the donuts.
By art2eat cakes Our littlest daughter LOVES penguins, and the familiar movie we all know that shows so many of them. This 3-d sculpted cake was a huge hit – yet another delighted client. She even hung tough when it came time to cut the head off, but Grandma nearly fainted. Baby Birthday Girl’s favorite cake is mama’s Golden Almond Vanilla with lots and lots of chocolate ganache. This one has a gumpaste/fondant center head and egg. The egg was surprisingly difficult. Powder color was used on the neck tint, and the mouth on the beak is hand-painted.
