Yellow and gray with modern design....

By DonnaOK
One of my clients asked me to create a Graduation cake for her sister. I used the print from the invite to create the print on this cake. I covered it in golden yellow fondant, then used royal icing for the pattern. Since the recipient is a cool young girl, I wanted to do something different….so I used fabric flowers that are very popular right now to embellish the cake with. Then I created the topper out of chocolate and used an edible image on it. I then added little clusters of silver dragees. One of my all time favorites. I’d love to do this as a wedding cake, since this color combo is so “in” right now!

Police Detective Cake

By LadyViola
This was a cake I made for the Police Dept. Burglary Unit in Killeen TX. I made a very similar cake earlier in the week for a police academy graduate. Anyhow the story behind this cake: someone broke into our church and stole some of our music equipment (who DOES that right?) Anyway, the detectives in the burglary unit did not sleep until they found the perpetrators. So, we just wanted to thank them for all their hard work. :) ) This was about 60 servings of cake and the cup and “donut” are actually rice krispie treats. All edible.

Law School Graduation

By yellowjacket
Book cake I made for my brother’s law school graduation. He and several friends hosted a party together which is why there is a generic “Congrats Grads” message. I thought six names would be too many. The names of the books are classes they all took, and the emblem on top is the law school’s logo. I was going to do a grad cap, but they wear berets and that just seemed to complicated. I also meant to make a little diploma, but just forgot to. Oh well, everyone loved it anyways! Thanks so much to all of the members here who offered inspirations, tips and advice!
