Friday Faves: Dr. Suess, Elephants and Flowers
Pink sugar roses and cute gumpaste kittens; vintage tea parties and warm scents from the kitchen; three-layer cakes covered in buttercream: these are a few of our favorite things!
As editors of Cake Central magazine, we come across so many awesome, inspiring things while working. From users to cake creations to wedding inspiration to cool new products, we want to share a few of our favorite finds with you every week.
Here are our faves of the week:
I love the modern design and two-tone purple geometric pattern on this cake. The way the gold flower mimics the same pattern is a fantastic touch by afunk.
SheiCakes did an outstanding job of taking the whimsical characters of Dr. Seuss and translating them into a three-dimensional cake. This is cake is just so much fun!
I love the idea behind this fun, pretty elephant cake. Cake-maker patisseriejaja based it on a young girl’s bedding, and the mouse on top is a reproduction of the girl’s stuffed animal. What a great concept for a kid’s cake! Plus, the style and design of the colorful elephant is so bright and happy!
This seventy-first birthday cake by gigiel is also a creative concept: each flower on the cake represents a member of the family. The two-tier cake is pretty and simple, with delightful pink roses.
This cake by AngelFood4 is insanely cute. Enough said.
Jessica Harris, aka mrsmudrash, never fails to impress us, and I can’t help but admire her ability to recreate a fondant look with buttercream on her first try. I’m also in love with the sophisticated simplicity of this cake design. The simple blue bow tie is all the cake needed to pull it together, and Jessica has a tutorial for it right here on CakeCentral.com! Learn how to make your own here.
