Friday Faves: Strawberries, syrup and superb flowers

As editors of Cake Central magazine, we come across so many awesome, inspiring things while working. From users to cake creations to wedding inspiration to cool new products, we want to share a few of our favorite finds with you every week. Here are this week’s Friday Faves!

Jackie’s Faves

AZCouture created a beautiful wedding cake to mimic the design of the bride’s dress. I love the execution of the isomalt beads in the piping design.

Have you ever seen gumpaste flowers so lifelike?  Not likely! If you are lucky enough to live in Germany, you can take a class on how to create this amazing flowers with Evgenia Maslova (EugenieS).

Leanne’s Faves

BakerzDad’s circus cake is so fun! This cake screams “this is going to be a great party!”

HappyCake10609 has done her cupcakes justice with this stunning cupcake display; it might just convert me to a cupcake lover. What a lovely and elegant way to show off the pretty clematis she made.

Mmmm…. pancakes!  Seriously, this is a cake?  Well done JanDunlevy.

Andi’s Faves

Is there anything as delightful as tea, biscuits and strawberry jam? Gigi1929’s cookies would make a wonderful addition to any tea party.

Orange is one of my favorite colors, and LePastryDiva’s cheerful cake puts it to work perfectly. I love how the brighter shades on the flowers pop off of the main color.

Jackie’s Faves

My eyes were first drawn to DesireeA’s lovely purple flowers, and after taking in the fondant ribbon technique used to cover the cake, it went straight into my favorites!

Who wouldn’t love this amazing sugar replica of the Leaky Cauldron from Harry Potter? Aggy Cotswolds won the gold award at Cake International at London Excel last month for this cake.

Leanne’s Faves

I love everything about stevinix’s Chanel inspired cake, the height, subtle robin’s egg blue, texture, the airy feel and of course the flowers!

MayBakesCakes’s beautiful hand painting speaks for itself. This is the cake I wish I could have made for my mom on Mother’s Day. I know whoever was lucky enough to receive this cake, loved it as much as I do.

Andi’s Faves

I love the bold, blue ruffles on this cake made by marie-coccinelle. The simple lily really stands out against the bright color of the bottom tier.

Edalina’s nature themed cake reminds me so much of the Pacific Northwest! The flowing river and trees are just beautiful.

Jackie’s Faves

If you haven’t picked up on it already, I am obsessed with hand painted floral cakes and ccmanveer’s cake is beautiful example of this timeless technique. I am also in love with this exquisitely covered cake board.

RATGA’s beautiful over-sized flower strategically placed on a simple buttercream cake is just lovely, and could be the perfect cake for any occasion.

Leanne’s Faves

Simple designs with just the right balance of minimalism always catch my eye.  Kiwimiriam has done this perfectly with this pretty but sophisticated cake.

Katyafreyman‘s rose transports me to a rose garden in June. It’s so lifelike that I can almost smell its sweetness.

Andi’s Faves

I love the crisp, colorful details on  alemoka’s cake! The bright details are so cheerful, and this cake is perfect for summer.

Craft-inspired cakes always grab my attention, and I was drawn to the crochet and buttons on this cake. Bien captured the look of crocheted flowers perfectly with her sugar version.

Friday Faves: Yoda, R2D2 and Han Solo

As editors of Cake Central magazine, we come across so many awesome, inspiring things while working. It’s no secret that there are quite a few sci-fi lovers at Cake Central Magazine, and we had so much fun looking at Star Wars cakes that we decided to share some of our favorites from this week.

Jackie’s Faves:

tchitwood might only just be starting out at cake decorating, but is already way ahead of the curve!  This cake is such a realistic and fantastic likeness of Yoda! I can’t wait to see what tchitwood comes up with next!

I know I have highlighted this Han Solo in carbonite cake by Atomikjen before, but I really enjoy it.  The LED lighting effects really make this cake worth a second and third look.

Andi’s Faves:

The details on this R2D2 cake are so crisp! The dapper bow tie around his neck adds the perfect finishing touch to fortheloveofcake11’s groom’s cake.

rcno’s Star Wars cake and cupcakes include some of the most iconic characters and images from the movie. The Death Star cake is amazing by itself, but the cupcakes take things to a whole new level of cute.

Friday Faves: Dragons, Succulents and Gnomes

Jackie’s Faves:

It’s no secret that I am a fan of DonnaOK, and this multi-cake dessert table spread is a great example of why. She makes beautiful cakes coated in luscious buttercream that are both modern and classically elegant.

I love this castle and dragon cake by Angiolina2009. There are so many wonderful little details, like the stone textures on the towers and the wood grain doors.

 

Justine’s Faves:

This cookie by IrinaVS is absolutely stunning, as is all her cookie work. The level of detail is amazing and the intricate patterns are beautiful.

alanajonesmann takes the succulents trend to a whole new level with these great cupcakes! They are cute, realistic and perfect for a themed party.

 

Andi’s Faves:

 

virago’s tree stump house with tiny gnomes is totally adorable. The figurines are incredibly sweet, and the whole cake has a wonderful, magical feel.

 

This dark, sophisticated cake made by sugarpixy makes me crave fall! The color palette and hand painted details work together perfectly.
