Basic White Cake (with variations)

Posted by mrskennyprice After many attempts at 'remaking' this recipe (the original was a little too wet for me), I finally came up with this recipe, which I use for all my cake flavors, with the exception of chocolate. The things I like about this cake are that I can use pasteurized shelf stable egg whites, so I always have the ingredients I need on hand to make a cake. The end result is also one of the best cakes I have ever tasted. I have included variations below. Basic White Cake (with variations) Ingredients 8 oz cake flour 8 oz ap flour 10 oz light brown... read more

Vanilla Bride's Cake

Posted by dolcesunshine20 I LOVE this cake!!!!! It's not a traditional white or yellow, kind of cream colored in between the two. It's a good if you're looking for something with the flavor and moistness of a cake mix, but wanting to make it from scratch. Vanilla Bride's Cake Ingredients 1 1/2 c. unsalted butter 3 c. sugar 7 large eggs 3 t. vanilla flavor (I use Mexican Vanilla, makes a huge difference!!!!) 1 t. almond flavor 4 c. self rising flour 2 c. milk Instructions Cream butter until smooth. Add sugar and flavorings and beat until fluffy. At the eggs... read more

A Better White Scratch Cake

Posted by edencakes This recipe has been slowly modified by me until I reached something I was quite happy with. Perfect for wedding cakes, birthday cakes and cupcakes, this recipe is very easy to adjust into any flavor you want. I've added: orange juice (subbed for some liquid), instant chai tea powder, peanut butter - you name it! Always a very moist, fine texture, but sturdy enough for wedding and sculpted cakes. A Better White Scratch Cake Ingredients 5 c cake flour 3 1/3 c sugar 2 Tbsp + 1 tsp baking powder 2 tsp salt 2 1/2 c milk 1 1/3 c shortening 16oz... read more

White Wedding Cake

Posted by Anonymous I thought I got this cake recipe from Cake Central, maybe the forums. Hmmmm. Anyway, it is perfect, in my opinion. I added some FYIs. It tastes like butter and a little of the vanilla taste and definitely not a dry cake. This recipe is durable for a wedding cake alright. It is a recipe I surely will be using for my family. I used the crusting buttercream recipe (Viva method-FYI: for the buttercream recipe I used the salted butter to cut down on sweetness and it tastes good & creamy-& not that sweet as I think it could have been). And, the... read more

Vegan Cake

Posted by Anonymous This recipe is vegan as written, meaning it contains no animal products. It is considered a white cake, but usually does not turn out looking "white." It can also be altered to nearly any flavor by changing the liquid. It could even be made into a chocolate cake (by adding 1 cup cocoa powder, reducing flour by 1/2 cup, and using chocolate soymilk as the liquid) although I have never tried this. I have used this cake several times for wedding cakes and it its quite stable. It is a moist cake that is easy to work with and decorate. Flax seeds are not... read more
