When a duplicate post is found in the forums, wouldn't it be easier for the mods to delete the unanswered ones, than to write "duplicate post" and have people bouncing back and forth between threads?

Of course, they would have to notify the OP to let them know the second one has been deleted.

I've seen several occasions of late where members have been posting the same question into two different forum categories. I think it would be easier to delete the ones that don't quite apply to the topic they were posted into.

Just my opinion. Carry on.

Theresa :)

Deleting unanswered duplicate posts in multiple forums usually results in the member just posting again. Allowing the unanswered duplicates to remain (but locked) drives responses to the open post (via links). (And I try to go back and delete the locked dupes after the member has received sufficient help on the open post or adequate time has passed.)

If a member has multiple duplicate posts, I try to pm them to explain how all members will have access to their post if it's placed in the most appropriate forum - as most members view CC using the "view posts since last visit" feature button, not forum by forum.

If there are multiple duplicate posts with responses, I cross-link all of them as every member's response is appreciated and valued. (But I will lock all but one thread, and send a pm.)

I'll end by saying that this is a time consuming and thankless task which has no perfect solution that will make everyone happy...
