Ok, I am still new to the whole world of decorating and have found that I absolutely LOVE it! I would love to enter a cake into some contest or something but have NO idea how to find when and where contests and such happen. Even just going to a cake event would be fun but I really stink at "google-ing" things online and am not sure what I should be typing to find these events.

Can anyone help me with this...I would really like to see and experience more in the world of cake decorating beyond my computer.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me ;-D

P.S. I am in Southern California so if anyone is also from here who may have more info for this area, that would be great...thanks again.

A suggestion I have is when you go to the cake decorating supply stores, ask them if there is anything goin on locally or in the state.

Also, google cake clubs in your city or area...you can find out a lot of in from them too.

The CA Cake Club hosts a cake show and competition in San Diego every year around March. Check out their site www.cacakeclub.org.

Check the Events forum from time to time. New events are often posted in that section.

Hi,
Further down on the Events page is a long list of events I compiled from all over the USA.
Here is the link.

Hello!

I am the Organizer of the NYC Cake Decorators Meetup. We have an annual Day of Sharing and Sugar Art Show in June and have just started quarterly "Best of the Best in NYC Cake Decorators Meetup" events. Our first "Best of the Best" is October 10th on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. We are featuring member and professional Chef Janet Ben-Ami who makes life-sized animal sculpted cakes. She will instruct members in how to create a "Where the Wild Things Are" 3D sculpted cake. We also have award winning cake designer Connie DiTomasso conducting a class in gelatin flowers and butterflies; a class creating a shoebox cake and gumpaste shoe; and 3D Fondant Fayrie Doll class. You do not have to be a member of our group to take any class. For more information just send a pm. You can follow the New York City Cake Decorators Meetup on Facebook and Twitter. Our blog is http://www.newyorkcitycakedecorators.blogspot.com

ALSO
The NYS Chapter of ICES is having a Weekend of Sharing (WOS) October 2-3rd in Long Island. For more information just send a pm.

AND

On Sunday, October 11, the Connecticut Chapter of ICES invites everyone to attend their Day of Sharing featuring demonstrations by Ana Parzych and Pam Dewey. A pre-Day of Sharing event with Ana Parzych will also take place that morning. For more information about this and another chapter event on Oct. 17th with Nicholas Lodge, please contact CT ICES Rep Carolyn Mathewson at cakecrazy@sbcglobal.net
