White Chocolate Cake

Dense white chocolate cake recipe. I use this with my basic buttercream, or make my white chocolate buttercream. Thanks

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 6 (1 ounce) squares white chocolate, chopped 1/2 cup hot water 1 cup butter, softened 1 1/2 cups white sugar 3 eggs 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Sift together the 2 1/2 cups flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Set aside. In small saucepan, melt 6 ounces white chocolate and hot water over low heat. Stir until smooth, and allow to cool to room temperature. In a large bowl, cream 1 cup butter and 1 1/2 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition. Stir in flour mixture alternately with buttermilk. Mix in melted white chocolate. Pour batter into two 9 inch round cake pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Sounds delish. Definitely gonna give this a try.
Yum that sounds good!
May sound dumb, but how do you get the white choc to blend with the water?? I thought typically chocolate would "clump" if it gets wet?? Thanks so much, can't wait to get it in the oven!
yum, I will be trying this!
this sounds like a white choc mud cake, which is v yummy. the choc does melt over heat so dont worry about that.
FINALLYY just what I was looking for I could never find a recipe that looked good!!!
btw, would you mind sharing your white chocolate buttercream?? can you PM me your recipe if you dont mind?? :) THANKSSS
Have you tried using this recipe for cupcakes?
I sure could have used this last week when I needed to make a white chocolate cake but thanks for sharing. Sounds delicious.....
OH! MY! GOODNESS! This cake was to die for! Thank you for this wonderful recipe-I loved it more then chocolate cake, and that says a lot coming from a chocoholic!:)
Are you using baking square chocolate or bars you would buy in the candy aisle? Sounds great ;)
I made this tonight with a Baker's bar. Came out good but not really what I expected. I don't know what I expected actually but I didn't think it tasted like white chocolate. It was nice and sweet and moist though.
sounds great! Can you tell me English measurement per cup? thanks :0)
This looks delicious and very similar to my Red Velvet recipe (obviously minus the red food coloring and cocoa!). I will be making a First Communion cake this weekend with both of these and can't wait to see how it turns out!!
Ingredients calls for 6 squares of white chocolate (which it says is 1oz). Recipe says 6oz white chocolate I'm going to assume the 6oz is correct as just 6 squares would hardly be noticeable. Will report back if I'm wrong :-D
Has to be 6oz of white chocolate. But even then, this cake tastes nothing like white chocolate. Will search further afield
Its 6 squares of white chocolate which each square weighs 1oz , so yes it would be 6 oz total. White chocolate it not a strong flavor to begin with so don't assume you'll get a taste like a regular chocolate cake where you taste the rich cocoa flavor. White chocolate is not really chocolate it is derived from chocolate and only consists of cocoa butter, milk solids and sugar. It does not contain the dark cocoa solid to be considered chocolate.
Hi,its buttermilk same as sour milk? Or can I make/substitute buttermilk with evaporated tin milk with vinegar? Thanks
SOUNDS GREAT I WILL SAVE THIS AND RATE IT AFTER I TRY IT
KJ0104 PUFFPUFF YOU CAN SUBSTITUTE BUTTER MILK BY ADDING ONE TABLESPOON OF VINEGAR TO ONE CUP OF MILK AND LET IT SIT A FEW MINUTES
