Special occasion chocolate cake

Gorgeous torted and filled with any chocolate buttercream. Preheat oven to 180 (fan 160), gas 4. Grease and line 2 8″ sandwich tins.

Ingredients

  • 200g cake flour (sr flour)
  • 2 level tsp baking powder
  • 40g cocoa
  • 225g caster sugar
  • 225g softened butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 100g 70% cocoa chocolate
  • 325g icing (confectioners) sugar
  • 1 tbsp golden/corn syrup

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour, baking powder and cocoa into a large mixing bowl. Add the caster sugar,butter, eggs and tbsp water. Beat until evenly mixed. Divide the cake mixture between the tins and level. Bake for 25-30 mins or until cake springs back when pressed. Leave to cool and fill with chocolate or hazelnut buttercream.

Hi, In your recipe for Special occasion chocolate cake I notice in the ingredients list there is 100g 70% cocoa chocolate 325g icing (confectioners) sugar 1 tbsp golden/corn syrup But in the instructions none of these ingredients are mentioned. Are these ingredients part of the recipe and if so when are they added?
