Posted by GrandmaGMiller & Pain was one of the leading clothing and retail stores in our area. The store is now gone but what great memories I have of it. This is an old cookie recipe from the old Miller & Paine bakery. They sold these Crumb Cookies there and the recipe leaked out after they closed. It's a great recipe to use up all those extra cake pieces or left over cookies. It's a spice cookie so would be great for a Fall flavor. I'll print it as it was written. It calls for margarine but I'm sure you could use butter or Crisco. INGREDIENTS 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 cup margarine 3 beaten eggs 4 or 5 cups of cake and cookie crumbs. Anything goes. Any flavor. 3/4 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 cups nuts, chopped 1/4 cup milk 5 cups flour 1 tsp. salt 2 tsp. soda 2 tsp. baking powder 1 cup molasses or honey 2 cups raisins, chopped DIRECTIONS Cream sugar and margarine, beat in eggs and molasses; stir n remaining ingredients. Chill. Roll into walnut sized balls, then roll in sugar. Press with fork and bake 10 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees.
