Ice Cream Cone Trees (Great for Christmas Cakes!)

These little trees are great for cupcake toppers, gingerbread houses, or just a fun activity to do with the kids for the holidays.

 

Items Needed

Step 1

start with an ice cream cone that has a flat top edge, and that is the desired size of the final tree

 

Step 2

Using a Star Tip pipe in a line around the base of the cone

Step 3

Continue Piping in Rows all the way up to to top of the ice cream cone

Step 4

Decorate your mini Christmas Tree! Using Dragees, white icing, sprinkles, or anthing else your imagination can come up with!

i love these but how do i secure them to my cake? The last time i used cones and trimmed them with buttercream they just fell over during transportation.

forjenns, I found it best to secure them with royal icing. Just make sure you allow enough time for the royal icing to harden completely before transport

When I make them I put two cones together so i can go all the way down the the bottom edge of the top cone. I just reuse the underneath cone after the top cone dries.
