if you put a little bit of gum paste in a bowl and you add about a teaspoon of water, mix until the gum paste is dissolved and the starch of the gum paste will work as an adhesive. :) I've also heard that vodka works well too but I have yet to try it.

A little tylose, gum tex, or cmc mixed with water will make a wonderful gum paste glue that dries quickly and holds extremely well.

does the corn syrup/water mix dry clear? I need it to put my pearls on a fondant covered/quilted board that is white, pearls are pink.

For some reason, the tylose / water mix didn't work fro me and I followed the step exactly to make it. I'm going to try the corn syrup/ water next time.

I have tried the gumpaste and water recipe and it just doesnt seem to work so i use just straight cornsyrup or a mixture of cornsyrup and water

these are all great comments and feedbacks, but it all depends on what you are doing and what you like, the corn syrup drys clear but it takes a while to dry about 24hrs, again depending on how much you use

I use equal parts of meringue powder and water for glue. Works great.

The thing to remember with gum glue (I use gum paste and water) is it only lasts 1 week and must be thrown away. And make sure you refrigerate it. I had some that was 8 days and was moldy!

Vodka....sounds funny but the small amount you use is not going to hurt anyone. It dries clean and quick and does not leave any shinny spots like gumpaste adhesive.

Just made wedding cake cookies will little gumpaste fall leaves and royal icing monograms. I used straight cornsyrup for the glue. It worked beautifully.

I've experienced glucose as glue while making gumpaste teddy bear and it wasn't good at all still prefer to use plain water.

Which adhesive works best for gumpaste flowers? I usually use Merinque powder and water but it leaves a shinny and sometimes not clear finish.
