Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil 3 eggs 1 cup packed brown sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup chopped walnuts 4 cups chopped apples 1 cup packed brown sugar 1/2 cup butter 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
Instructions
1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan, or a 10 inch tube pan. Stir the flour, baking soda and salt together and set aside.
2 In a large bowl, cream the oil, eggs, 1 cup brown sugar and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Add the flour mixture and mix well. Stir in the chopped apples and nuts.
3 Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
4 For the Topping: In a saucepan, combine 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter and 1/4 cup cream. Bring to a boil, and continue boiling for 3 minutes. Cool slightly and pour over warm cake.
