Chocolate cream cheese filling

This is a easy and silky filling that I came up with for a family members cake. It’s yummy and not to sweet.

Chocolate cream cheese filling

Ingredients

  • 1 8oz cream cheese-softened
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream-unwhipped
  • 1 box-4 serving size instant chocolate pudding
  • 2-4 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Cream together the cream cheese and heavy whipping cream until smooth. Add the dry pudding mix and beat until incorporated. Add milk until you get the consistancy that you need for spreading. Enjoy!

Isn’t chocolate a food group?!

Great easy recipe. However, I added 1 1/2 to 2 tbs of Hersheys Cocoa Powder to increase the chocolate flavor for my husband. Just add 1 tsp at a time until chocolate flavor was what he wanted

Thanks so much for the recipe! I have used this in so many of my cakes. Works well. Usually have to double the recipe because I like to have two layers of filling to three layers of cake. I've also switched out the chocolate pudding for all sorts of other flavors and works well. Such an easy and quick filling...best best of all.....taste yummy!! :)

This filling recipe sounds like what I have been looking for. Since I am new to cake baking world, could someone tell me if I would need to refrigerate the cake?

I just made this today and it does taste really good. It does turn out silky as described. I also remembered the comment about adding Hershey's, but wasn't at the computer and thought it was syrup, so added a few Tbs of chocolate syrup to it and it gave it just a little more chocolate boost.

I'm sure other flavors would be just as good!

I'm new to cake decorating and so my questions may sound very basic. So far I have just used regular buttercream, but I'm wanting to try something different. This sounds delicious. Do you cover the whole cake in this or does it just go between the layers? Would this go well with a chocolate cake? I'm planning on covering the cake in fondant. Any other ideas would be helpful. Thanks

It can be left out for a few hours, but not much more than that because of all the dairy in it. stephiecakes-it is only a filling. It wouldn't work for covering a cake. However there are several recipes on this site for buttercream which you could use for covering the cake or for under fondant. You can just add different flavorings to your buttercream recipe or just peruse the recipes for fun and tasty new one. It is really good with chocolate cake.

I have used this several times. I love it and get comments on it all the time. Whenever I bake a cake it's always requested. This is tride and true and turns out exactly as described. Thee most perfect cake filling. So tempting everytime to sit down with bowl and a spoon and eat it like ice cream.
