Chocolate Cake Balls
After making a homemade chocolate cake and having it not release from the pan, I decided to whip up some cake balls with left over chocolate frosting and some other ingredients. This turned out really good and is a chocolate lovers dream!
Chocolate Cake Balls
Ingredients
- Excess chocolate cake
- Any chocolate frosting—store bought or homemade
- 1/2 c. semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 c. peanut butter
- 1/8 c. margarine/butter
- 2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
Instructions
- 1. Crumble up the chocolate cake and place into a bowl. Mix in the chocolate frosting into the crumbled cake. You can eye ball the amounts for the frosting and cake.
- 2. Once the cake and frosting is completely combined, using your hands roll about 1 inch balls. Place the balls on a plate or container of choice that has been sprayed with non stick spray, or lined with wax paper.
- 3. Freeze the balls for about 2 hours.
- 4. Once the balls are frozen, in a bowl melt the chocolate chips, peanut butter, margarine, and vanilla flavoring together for about 30 seconds. Stir the ingredients, and then place back in microwave until completely melted together.
- 5. Using a fork, spoon, or your hands, roll the chocolate balls into the chocolate mixture and place back onto the sprayed pan.
- 6. Freeze balls for about 1 more hour or until hard.
- 7. Enjoy!
I couldn't understand what all the rave was about with cake balls, but I tried these anyway. THEY WERE FANTASTIC - what a hit! I decided to call them Cake Truffles since cake balls doesn't quite have the same pizzazz!
how much icing?
Hello, Can I use make these with Vanilla cake also? Do I use the same ingrediants as if I had chocolate cake?
Thank you so much Carissa
Sounds super yummy! Since I am allergic to PB, I am going to try it with Fluff.
