My mom gave me this recipe to use with a banana cake I made for my daughter’s birthday. It was quick and easy and I was able to decorate with it as well. The taste is similar to a caramel flavor.
Ingredients
2/3 cup butter, softened
6 cups powdered sugar
3 teaspoons vanilla
1/4 cup milk, plus additional for thinning
Instructions
Heat butter in a saucepan over low heat until a delicate brown color. Remove from heat, mix together with powdered sugar. Beat in vanilla and milk until smooth. I had to add additional milk for spreading consistency, adding a little at a time.
I have a wonderful banana cake recipe. Everyone loves it. Wasn't crazy about the last icing I made put on it. Just didn't do it for me. This sounds like a absolutely perfect pairing. Definitely keeping and trying. Thanks for posting.
This is the same frosting that I use on Paula Deens' loaded oatmeal raisin cookies and everyone loves it...I haven't tried it on a cake, but am going to try it...

anybody tried it on chocolate cake?
Am wondering what would happen if you slowly beat in some philly?
