My Mom always used this for her chocolate icing for her cakes when I was growing up. It is wonderful with the death by chocolate cake recipe I submitted. When made together, you can smell the chocolate from several feet away!
Brown Beauty Icing (Chocolate)
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 Cups sifted confectioners sugar
- 1/4 Cup Shortening
- 1/4 Cup of milk
- 3 Squares (3 oz. total) unsweetened chocolate- melted
- 1 tsp of vanilla
- 1 whole egg
Instructions
- Blend Sugar, shortening, milk, chocolate and vanilla in mixng bowl
- Add the egg and beat with mixer until frosting is smooth
- Place bowl in ice water bath and stir until frosting is thick enough to spread
- If frosting becomes too thick, dip bowl in hot water for a few seconds and stir to desiered consistencey
