Alice's Pound Cake

My mom Alice used to make this cake for all of our family functions. I make it now for birthdays and it is famous with everyone. It is delicious even without icing (tastes great with buttercream too)

Alice's Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar 1 tsp vanilla extract 2 sticks butter 1/2 cup crisco 6 eggs 3 cups flour 1 cup milk recommended to have butter, eggs and milk at room temp. but works well either way

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar, butter, crisco and vanilla together. Add eggs one at a time. Add flour and milk in thirds alternatively.
  2. Pour cake batter into prepared cake pan. DO NOT preheat oven. cook at 325 degrees for approx. 90 min.

Hello, I noticed the recipe did not call for any baking power or soda. Is it required ?
Nope...not required. This is a fairly simple recipe... use it all of the time and get great feedback. Hope you enjoy!
